| Ebusiness Forum was voted as a best practise in Brussels (20 June 2002 - Benchmarking e-business policies in support of SMEs). | | | | |

|
- It brings into the forum all the interested parties and in this way three crucial things happen: Problems are identified and looked into from every edge, Solutions are proposed with which everybody agrees about, Consensus is being built.
- It looks into the future and brings into the surface problematic that will arise in the Greek society after a period of time. In that way awareness is being built.
- Solutions that are defined by the forum and which can be implemented by a project are looked at and studied by the Ministry of Development and according to the legal, organisational and financial constraints and the Ministry's priorities are put into effect.
- The forum has an imbedded flexibility due to the fact that the plenary sessions take place every 3-4 months and the advisory committee meets on a montly base. In that way it is very easy to be always at the forefront of events and developments and take them into consideration for the working groups priorities.
In order to give some practical examples of what the e-business Forum is about and how the forum's impact is measured, we present some numbers of success. For this purpose, we present the different actions that have taken place since the beginning of the project:
Α series of major projects concerning e-business in Greece have been planified by the Working Groups of the e-Business Forum so far:
Indicatively:
- The Go Digital Program (subsidies to 50000 vSMEs for Internet connectivity and creation of commercial web- sites / 90 M )
- The "Get Trained to Go Digital" program (training program for 50.000 vSMEs 27 M )
- The "Business On Line" program (subsidies for more sophisticated ICT and e-business investments for 2500 SMEs/ 260 M ) which includes the "Digital Content" Program (Funding the creation of critical digital content by Greek SMEs) and the "E-marketplaces" Program (Funding the creation of sectoral e-marketplaces)
- The National Electronic Procurement System
- The "Go Digital - Plus" program funding 2500 SMEs for basic e-business investments up to 10.000 euros.
Promoting activities and events
Six one-day events were organised until now in Athens and Thessaloniki, with the aim of informing participants for the national policy on the information society technology and the resulting funding activities as well as the overall activities of the e-Business forum. The events were organised from the Ministry of Development with the help of the e-Business working group members. The number of the participants (policy makers, entrepreneurs, universities etc.) has reached 500, a record number for an event of this kind. Some 20.000 copies of the e-Business Forum brochure were distributed to SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) all around Greece in cooperation with the "Get trained to go-online" project. Another 30.000 were distributed in all other events organised. | | | | |
